Participants of the race listened to lectures about the history of watches, learned more about the professions of watchmaking, got acquainted with young Russian watch brands and the Raketa factory. We had a belt sewing practice and a basic course on mechanical watches. As part of the production of the premium model of watches, dials were made, light and enamel were applied, engraving was done and case details were decorated.
We thank the organizers for the invitation and unique experience, and wish all participants creative success. You can always count on our support.
I would like to thank our colleagues and friends who found the opportunity to go on an educational trip: Sergey Volkov (Colibrica Design), Viktor Mankash (blog About Watches), Yevgenia Maleva (art directors of the Rocket), Konstantin Gorbachev (Gokhran, restorer), Alexandra Chekmeneva (artistic processing of parts), Vasily Avetisov (production designerAntonina Strogonova (belt maker), Artem Pavlenko (jewelry technology) and Alexander Belousov.
The story does not end there, the participants of the race will be trained and practiced as part of an internship in the workshops of the Watch Academy. See you!

The watch underground is an alternative side of knowledge about the history of watchmaking, which is expressed in the independent low-circulation production of custom-made watches. The opportunity to create your own unique watch model, which can boast authenticity and the presence of non-standard technological techniques and methods of craftsmanship, always attracts fans of exclusivity and collectors with experience. As a rule, watches from this category are made by hand by an individual watchmaker (or watchmaker’s studio) to order. At the same time, watches are often issued in a single copy.

In Soviet times, the Chaika watch factory was a major city-forming enterprise in Uglich. During the time of troubles, everything was destroyed, sold and rented out. However, now there are enthusiasts who want to revive the domestic chasprom. The name of these enthusiasts is Colibrica Design, led by Sergey Volkov

The Indicator model of Russian watchmaker Sergey Volkov and Uglich studio Solibrica design will be presented in the project ‘Watch underground’ at the Moscow Watch Expo

The Colibrica design studio from Uglich stands apart, since its three founders, led by Sergey Volkov — are representatives of the same watch dynasties that actually grew up at the Chaika factory. The brand launched its first watch in 2015.
